When it comes to art supplies, there are so many options out there from which you can choose, but this is not making things any easier. So I thought why not create my own watercolour pan palette with the colours I adore?

What you need to do first is decide what watercolour pans are you going to use. There are plenty available to purchase on the market, and if you are new to art journaling or painting with watercolours, then I encourage you to buy those that are not to expensive, so you don’t feel sorry about “ruin” them in the process if anything goes not exactly as planned. Second, I used a piece of cardboard and I’ve covered the surface with watercolour paper to be able to make the swatches later. This will be the ‘case’ of the watercolour pans.

One of the things I like is that you get to decide how you want to order the colours, so be creative! You don’t just pick the colours, but you also order them on the cardboard as you see fit. I’ve used double-side scotch tape to glue them on the paper surface. You can also use hot gun glue as well. One side of the cardboard is the ‘top’ of the case, so make sure you have enough to create a cover for the pans if you want to carry them around, otherwise you won’t be able to do so.
Un lucru minunat este ca puteti decide cum vreti sa ordonati culorile, asa ca fiti creativi! Nu doar ca puteti alege culorile pe care le doriti, dar le puteti si aranja pe carton asa cum doriti. Am folosit scotch dublu adeziv pentru a le lipi de hartia acuarela. Puteti folosi si pistol de lipit. O parte a cartonului este “capacul” cutiei de acuarele, asa ca lasati spatiul necesar pentru a crea un capac cu care sa acoperiti culorile daca doriti sa le luati cu voi, altfel nu veti putea sa le luati in geanta sau in trusa de pictura.
Some of these colours are older, and some are brand new as you can see. There is still room for other colours to pop in, so I might use that space to add more colours in the future. But for now I’m happy with how it looks. The most exciting part: the switches! I love to see each colour how it unfolds its beautiful tones! And you’re done!
