I don't usually write messages in my art journals, but I should integrate that in ny daily practice. Adding words and messages is like speaking with a future self that will see the pages at a later date, probably with different eyes and meaning.

20 minutes art journaling – Girl with Lotus Flower
I thought this time would be nice to try to tweak the face proportions and create something obviously exaggerated, but that stays in the whimsical genre. I did a very quick sketch with a black watercolor pencil, with my mindset to elongate the face shape so that she looks way looonger than she is, with big eyes and lips to emphasize the dramatic effect. Her hair builds this image having almost no volume at all, in contrast with most of my faces. It’s not the first time I draw like this, but today I wanted to try this style again. Today is the Romanian National Day, La mulți ani, Romania! 🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴 Im drawing and painting again in my Mixed Media CANSON journal and as I’m drawing this face, I rediscovered my junk journal sitting in my stash. It’s time to bring this journal to life again, but that’s another blog post – I just wanted to remind you that junk journals can be such a great fun, and I still have mine to play with. I'm still recovering and meanwhile I'm taking bits of time to create quick art journal pages to slowly return to my art routine. I really miss painting with acrylic paints, but right now I focus on watercolors and simpke sketches that are easy and fast to create.

It is more important to know where you are going than to get there quickly.” – Mabel Newcomber I love this quote and the message it sends. It’s true. We need vision and clarity to know where we are going before putting the foot outside in the big world. I wanted to keep this page simple, with no drawings, just words. The face on the left is one I did a while ago. Using neocolors 2, I created a random background on the other page and activated the colors with a wet tissue, because the sketchy paper couldn’t hold too much water.
