Old drawings – new pages
Although most of the time I start from scratch with a new page, sometimes I find myself “browsing” old journals that never come completed. And that’s fine because we all need “art diversity” and that’s what all these journals bring to the table. They are all different with all kinds of paper types and grains. I have a bunch to choose from, and that’s so much fun. This art journal was made out of a book I bought precisely for this purpose: to transform it into an art journal. I remember how I altered this red-golden iridescence tissue cover using liquid paper glue, which worked well at giving the cover…

The Junk Journal Project – old calendar
These days I’m digging again into junk journals and rediscover the resources I have around that I can use to add interesting marks in my journal pages. One method I keep on coming back from time to time is collage work. Just by simply adding collaged art images on your junk journal it will make it look interesting and unique. But those images do become yours only when you personalize them with acrylic paints or POSCA markers. Then you “bend” the photos and create something new. As I was saying in my last post, these days we might actually draw/sketch more than usual and that's a good thing for the psychic, right?! And all I can say is that I encourage you to do the same, drawing has such a relaxing effect on our minds. You can draw anything you want or simply sketch, but if you're here I suppose (and hope) you are interested in drawing whimsical faces out of your imagination! There's no better time to get started with your drawing practice, so go ahead and grab your supplies now!

20 minutes art journaling – fast watercolor-Posca markers
I did this face so fast that I didn’t even have time to take photos with the sketch and the whole process. This face was painted in my Derwent Art book with sketchy paper, but the papes are thick enough to take enough water so I can build multiple layers of color. It started with a sketch I randomly thought about and then I added Posca markers, which I normally use only for accents, but this time I thought it would be nice to see how they cover the whole skin and build up layers of color. I was so fascinated by the process that I forgot to take some…
