The last few weeks have been like crazy for me and more important stuff needed my attention, but it feels so good to be back to mixed media. Creating art is what gives me joy and makes me happy, so I can’t stay away for too long.

I’ve been wanting to paint something like this for a while now, but only when I saw Juna Biagioni painting for the second time I’ve decided it’s time to give it a try.

This kind of painting has its ugly stages, but that’s what makes it even more interesting to me and that’s why I wanted to paint it in the first place.

You start with a sketch, I didn’t even bother to use a graphite pencil and did it directly with neocolors.

Decide where shadows and lights go and after you added color it should look like this:

Chiar mi se pare interesanta in stadiu asta.

This is what I got after adding acrylic paints. I love this look although it’s not finished.

And here it’s when I started to add Faber Castell gel sticks or gelatos. They are creamy and as you can see in the video below, they smudge using your fingers.

And after working a little bit more on the face, adding details and face features using a Derwent INKtense pencil, here is the final result. Of course, at some point you just keep on adding and wonder when you’re going to stop, because now you have the impression it’s done, but then you see a detail that needs to be worked more. 😉

And here it’s the video of this face!
Iar acesta este si videoul acestei fete!
What have you been journaling lately?
Ce-ati mai jurnalit in ultimul timp?
