Yesterday I went back to graphite pencils and drew this girly-face in my Derwent Art Journal. It was pretty ugly with that neglectful look when I finished the pencil sketch, so I thought adding soft pastels will make her look much better.
Ieri m-am intors la creioanele cu grafit si am desenat aceasta fata in jurnalul meu Derwent. Era destul de uratica, cu aspect neglijent atunci cand am terminat schita in creion, asa ca m-am gandit sa adaug pasteluri cretate pentru a o face sa arate mai bine.
I used a photo as reference and sketched the very basics of the face and part of her torso.
Am folosit o poza ca model si am schitat in linii simple fata si o parte din trunchi.
Soft pastels would be great if they were not that chalky: they tend to smudge more than you want them to. But I guess that degree of smudginess depends on the brand and how one uses them.
Pastelurile cretate ar fi minunate daca nu ar fi atat de sfaramicioase: au tendinta sa se intinda mai mult decat ai vrea. Dar cred ca tendinta asta difera de la un brand la altul si conteaza si cum sunt folosite.
