Two whimsical sketches
I like to have my art journals filled until the last page, so I literally took my CANSON ART ONE art journal back from the stack and decided to fill in the pages that were left so that I can finish this bulky journal. It got this way because I keep on adding gesso on the pages or collage magazine pieces to make it thicker for acrylics and to allow more water. Even if the paper it’s not a mixed media one, I have enjoyed so much working on this journal. It took all the pressure off of being perfect or the worry of ruining a good quality paper for scribbling things… but that’s art, too 🙂
Anyways, I drew this two faces using an ordinary blue pen I got at hand and then decided a little bit of color would be just perfect. And I didn’t had the watercolor pans with me, so watercolor pencils went into action. Some of the pencils I’ve used are Derwent INKtense, some are Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth. The first ones are more intense as the name says, but the Koh-i-noor are also amazing, especially because they also have great pigmentation and are very affordable.
As you can see, this journal has been worn out, but that’s what you want to get at the end of a journal: that means you’ve been working like crazy with all kind of art supplies!! I like to preserve the journal tag, so that’s why mine still has it as shown in the picture.
What art journals are on your desk these days?
